Union Solidarity

As part of the broader labor movement, Latino Union members organize to support union initiatives to improve working conditions for all workers. Playing a key role in what many are calling the "new labor movement" the Latino Union seeks to create models of worker organizing within the context of a new economy that is increasingly centered upon contingent labor.

Through its participation in the Illinois Coalition of Workers Centers, the Latino Union is actively collaborating with the Illinois Federation of Labor, the Chicago Federation of Labor, and several local unions.  The goal of this work is to further legislative and other initiatives that improve workers rights for union and non-union workers and to promote active participation of immigrant workers within unions.
